Hannover 2000 Universal Exhibition Opening

On June 1, 2000, the Universal Exhibition of Hannover was inaugurated and Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos were in charge of designing the Spanish pavilion. As a provisional building, certain freedoms could be taken, such as the whole facade in cork. The contrast between the simplicity of the exterior and the majesty of the interior are other features of the building, in addition to the use of the “cracks” in the facade used in various projects of the architects. Despite being a temporary construction in order to be dismantled, after the exhibition it was not removed and it is kept in perfect condition.
