High Speed intermodal railway Station, Orense

PROJECT REPORT

As a starting point, it is planned to expand the scope of the tender to include land that currently belongs to the station but is excluded from the intervention area of the tender, in such a way that a better urban solution can be studied. The project is based on five interventions that can be successive and allow for the greatest flexibility in their implementation and the best-possible economic solution, efficiently meeting the needs of the intermodal station while also addressing the urban connection over railway lands. The extension of Xesús Pousa Avenue is proposed, which is divided into two branches, preserving the current train station building and generating a space that deals with and focuses on all of the problems raised. The space created between the two branches of Xesús Pousa Avenue is proposed for the construction of the new railway station. The new bus station can be built and put into service separately from the railway station, but in the end they will form a coherent whole. Urban development will improve with a new square on the northern side of the station. Below it and taking advantage of the slope, a parking area is projected. A park joining the two urban zones will be built over the tracks. This last intervention may be carried out at a later time depending on the economic possibilities.
