PROJECT REPORT

The building takes the form of an elongated volume, on the North South direction, and it is located in the center of the available area. On the East side entrances and exits to the parking take place.

We also propose to rotate the future building and to create a triangular space, a courtyard that acts as a recognizable site for the small campus, as a recreation area and as a contact between researchers and users of the entire complex.

It is not common to start talking of the underground floors of a building, however within this project, it has a great importance since the logical position of a large portion of the program is in the underground levels.

The level -1, that houses the parking, was the subject of particular attention. The access, probably the most widely used access of the building, is through a gentle wooded slope, avoiding the appearance of a conventional ramp. The ground floor houses the public uses and access. From a transversal East West passage, a generous circular staircase creates a connection to the level -1. The most public spaces, the cafeteria, auditorium and nursery, are located on the south part of the passage.

Thus, the plan seems to be the most appropriate for the project.  It generates a longitudinal spine composed of all the necessary fixed elements: from the vertical circulations to the technical areas, to the services and other auxiliary contents.
