Young Boys BSC Wankdorf football stadium · hotel · offices, Bern

PROJECT REPORT

The football stadium, of 35,000 seats under cover, is visible from every point of view. It is divided into an upper and a lower stand, while the playing field sits at 6.5 m below street level without creating a basement. Because of this, the access level corresponds with the ground floor. , providing significant advantages for pedestrians by allowing easy access to their seats.

The shopping centre is mainly below the square and complete with diverse shops at the ground floor. The glass elements, which act as torches of illumination at night, will show the entrances to the shopping centre and the restoration area at level -3, and will be an advertising support. A wide, low gradient ramp will provide access to the square, and access to the car park with independent circular ones.

The main entrance is at the front of the centre. The coffee shop is on the first floor of the main building and works as a joint between the three constructions. The restaurants in the football stadium and the commercial centre complement each other by offering different dining options and are located in the most appropriate places.

The hotel has 120 bedrooms and 10 suites and is the spatial culmination of the square towards Sempacherstrasse. Therefore, the buildings act as an acoustic barrier for the adjacent neighbourhood.
