Football Stadium for Lausanne Sport Club in ‘La Tuiliere’, Lausanne

PROJECT REPORT

The proposed stadium is based around a very continuous, abstract facade that features a single opening, an energetic gesture opening the stadium to the new square, the planned Business Centre opposite and the public transport interchange, which will link the project with the rest of the city.

The western side of the stadium has gradually become more specific in relation to the rest of the stands, due to the fact that it houses complementary functions in addition to those dedicated strictly to sport.

The stadium has large meeting areas for business and VIP spectators, executive boxes, seminar rooms, large kitchens, club and sport service offices, Lausanne Football Club supporter associations and changing rooms not only for the stadium but also for the Training Centre.

All this has led to the complete specialisation of the western area for high-level spectators and the media. The western part of the stadium takes the form a small events and convention centre that can work independently of the sport, linked to the Business Centre to be built in front of it, guaranteeing that the stadium’s activity will go far beyond spectacle.

Like this, a large part of the planned opening on the western façade is filled with meaning, recalling the strong functional relationship between the two buildings, which will create a new public space and open the stadium toward the city.
